Composite tanks – Trokotex

Composite tanks are manufactured from polyester-glass laminate, also known as GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) or FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic). GRP is a composite material consisting of chemically resistant synthetic resins reinforced with appropriately selected glass fibers. Other commonly used names for this material include GFK (from German Glasfaserverstärkter Kunststoff), GRP, and FRP (from English Glass Reinforced Plastic, Fiber Reinforced Plastic).

GRP tanks are increasingly replacing stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and steel protected with anti-corrosion coatings. In environments where severe corrosion occurs and there is exposure to aggressive chemicals, all types of steel may fail to provide adequate protection. For many years, GRP/FRP products reinforced with glass fibers have been manufactured and successfully used worldwide.
