Industrial absorbers

Industrial absorbers are designed to remove specific substances and eliminate contaminants from gases, liquids, and solid particles in industrial processes. At Trokotex our absorbers are manufactured from GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic)-a high-performance composite consisting of glass fibre reinforcement combined with premium polyester or epoxy resins.

This advanced material provides excellent mechanical strength, outstanding resistance to corrosion, and reliable performance under both low and high operating temperatures. At the same time, its lightweight construction simplifies transportation, installation, and integration into industrial facilities.

The dimensions, geometry, and nozzle arrangement of each absorber are individually designed during the engineering phase to meet the technical requirements of the customer’s installation. As a result, every Trokotex absorber is custom-engineered to deliver optimal performance while perfectly matching the specific needs of the project.

Where Are Industrial Absorbers Used?

Industrial absorbers are widely used in industries where equipment is exposed to moisture, extreme temperatures, or aggressive chemical environments.

They are commonly applied in:

  • Gas treatment systems – removing harmful gases generated during industrial processes, including sulphur oxides (50x), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and ammonia (NH₃).
  • Environmental protection systems – cleaning flue gases to meet environmental regulations in power plants, refineries, waste-to-energy plants and other industrial facilities.
  • Chemical and petrochemical industries – where corrosion-resistant equipment is essential for handling aggressive chemicals that would rapidly damage conventional steel equipment.
  • Industrial process applications – removing unwanted compounds from gases and liquids to improve process efficiency and product quality.

Although the initial investment in GRP absorbers may be higher than that of conventional steel equipment, their exceptional corrosion resistance, minimal maintenance requirements, and long service life result in significantly lower life-cycle costs. This makes GRP absorbers a reliable and cost-effective solution for demanding industrial applications.

Advantages & Benefits of GRP Industrial Absorbers

Industrial absorbers manufactured from GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) offer numerous advantages over conventional steel solutions. Here’s why they are the preferred choice for demanding industrial applications:

Lightweight Construction

GRP equipment is significantly lighter than comparable steel structures, making transportation, handling, and installation faster and more cost-effective. Its low weight also enables installation on roofs and elevated structures with limited load-bearing capacity.

Exceptional Durability

GRP absorbers provide outstanding resistance to low and high temperatures, moisture and a wide range of aggressive chemicals that would rapidly corrode conventional steel equipment. Depending on the application, they can be manufactured using specialized polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy resins, including grades designed for highly concentrated acids and fire-resistant environments.

Long Service Life

Thanks to the unique properties of GRP composites, industrial absorbers are engineered for decades of reliable operation. Their excellent corrosion resistance minimizes maintenance requirements and significantly reduces lifecycle costs.

High Mechanical Strength

GRP combines high strength with low weight, providing excellent resistance to mechanical impact and operational loads. Even accidental impacts are unlikely to compromise the absorber’s structural integrity, leak-tightness, or process performance

Industrial Absorber Specifications

The operating principle of an industrial absorber is based on the transfer of contaminants from a gas or liquid stream into an absorbing liquid. Contaminated gas or liquid enters the absorber, where it comes into contact with a specially selected absorbent. Through a chemical absorption process, unwanted pollutants are removed from the process stream.

The performance of an industrial absorber depends on several key design parameters, which are determined during the engineering phase to ensure optimum efficiency for the intended application. These include: Tank diameter, Type of contaminants to be removed, Flow capacity, treatment efficiency (expressed in m³/h), Process conditions and operating environment.

The selection of an industrial absorber should comply with all applicable regulations and industry standards while also considering the customer’s future production and expansion plans. This ensures long-term operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and the flexibility to accommodate increasing production capacity.

At Trokotex, we manufacture both vertical and horizontal GRP absorbers, custom-designed to suit the available installation space and the specific process requirements of each industrial facility.
